Appeal Committee

The Appeal Committee was set up in 2005 with a very specific target of raising funds towards the development of Refuge provision in South Yorkshire. After this target was successfully acheived the Committee continued to generate Voluntary Income to support the work of the charity by organising quality events.
The President of the Appeal is our patron the Earl of Scarbrough.
Lord Scarbrough's generosity and enthusiasm in his role as President of the Appeal has encouraged many others to play a key part in raising vital funds so that SAFE@LAST can continue its work with young people in our region
The Chairman of the Committee is Stephen Smith MBE.
Steve was born in 1948 in Sheffield and is very proud of his roots, his dad was a butcher for the Co-op and his Mum worked in a factory. After what he describes as an
'undistinguished'
school career, he had ambitions to become a professional musician but drifted almost by chance into the legal profession. Today he is highly regarded solicitor, author and after dinner speaker.
'I have been pleased to have been associated with SAFE@LAST for some time now and I have greatly enjoyed working with some of the most dedicated of volunteers. In this day and age with all the bad news that we hear it is reassuring to know that there are people out there who truly care.
SAFE@LAST has dedicated itself to the welfare of troubled young people who find themselves in compromising positions which has been brought about by circumstances well beyond their control. They then become greatly at risk from the sort of people who seek to take advantage of their circumstances.
The community is well served by SAFE@LAST and I would like to encourage everyone to pay a part no matter how small in helping to sustain the remarkable success that the charity has achieved.
I would like to pay tribute to all those who have worked and given their time, money and effort to support this worthy cause and I am particularly indebted to Lord and Lady Scarbrough for their patronage, support and kindness throughout my term of office.'
