Auction items

Two events are being held at Sandbeck Park, the home of the Earl and Countess of Scarbrough to benefit SAFE@LAST on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th June.  For more details on La Bella Vita and Art in the Park please visit www.weekendatlast.co.uk.

Scouting for Girls

Scouting for Girls are a band from London, formed in 2005.  They have had massive chart success with a host of hit singles and their self-titled album went to number 1 in the UK in 2008.  The first single (‘This Ain’t A Love Song’) from their new album ‘Everybody Wants To Be On TV’ went straight to number one earlier this year.  They have generously donated a signed (and used) drum skin with some signed singles for the auction.

 

   

James Martin (born 30 June 1972 in Malton, North Yorkshire), is an English cook who first appeared on television in 1996 with various programmes including "James Martin: Yorkshire's Finest" but came to wider public attention on Ready Steady Cook. In 2005 Martin was partnered with Camilla Dallerup in Strictly Come Dancing. He is now the presenter of the new version of the BBC 1 show Saturday Kitchen.

 

James Martin holds the world record for carrot chopping in which he peeled and chopped 515g of carrots in one minute, during a Ready Steady Cook Children in Need Special.

 

   

Gervase Phinn (born 27 December 1946 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire) is an English author and educator. After a career as a teacher he became a schools inspector and, latterly, Visiting Professor of Education at the University of Teesside.

 

He has published five volumes of autobiography, collections of poetry and a number of books about education. He has a particular interest in children's literature and literacy and is widely known as a lively and entertaining speaker.

 

He is married with four grown-up children and SAFE@LAST is proud to have Gervase as a committed Patron.

 

   
Christopher West is a artist living and working in Norfolk, his passion for art has developed over a lifetime in that county.  A childhood in North Norfolk, frosty morning commutes through the countryside, family holidays at the coast and introducing his grandchildren to exciting new places, are just some of the experiences that have shaped his appreciation for the county.

 

“Though I enjoy a number of mediums, watercolours continue to be my favourite in which to capture the soft textures and fine detail of a subject.” Chris’s art can be seen in varying Norfolk galleries including the Crome, Norwich and Picture Craft, Holt.

 

   

Brian Christopher Deane (born 7 February 1968) is an English former footballer. Deane scored the first goal in the English Premier League for Sheffield United against Manchester United after 5 minutes on 15 August 1992. In the same game he scored a second after 50 minutes from the penalty spot as Sheffield United went on to win 2-1.

 

Deane won 3 caps for England whilst with Sheffield United in the early 1990s. His England debut was as a half-time substitute in a tour match against New Zealand at Mount Smart Stadium, Auckland on 3 June 1991.

 

   

Dave Berry (born David Holgate Grundy, 6 February 1941, Woodhouse, Sheffield) was a British pop singer and teen idol of the 1960s. He was influenced by Chuck Berry and Gene Vincent, helping him develop his own unique style and presentation culminating in a contract with Decca records. His biggest hit, the 1964 recording of ‘The Crying Game’ is now acknowledged as a classic.

Over 40 years later Dave is still performing to full houses all over Britain and the Continent with the odd trip to Australia

 

   

Lee Mack (born Lee Gordon McKillop, 4 August 1969) is an English stand-up comedian and actor. He is the critically acclaimed BAFTA-winning star of BBC ‘One's Not Going Out’ and is well known as a team captain on ‘Would I Lie To You?’ Lee brings his trademark brand of high energy banter, well crafted gags and sharp one-liners to his live stand-up shows.

 

Lee Mack said in an interview that he first went into comedy by doing Bobby Ball impressions at his school when he was 15. He is a supporter of Blackburn Rovers.

 

   

Jarvis Branson Cocker was born 19 September 1963 and was front man for the band Pulp. Through his work with the band, Cocker became a figurehead of the Britpop movement of the mid-1990s.

Following Pulp's hiatus Cocker has led a successful solo career and recently won a Sony Rising Star Awards for his show on BBC 6 Music about which he said, 6 Music isn’t going to change the world – it just wants to make it a bit nicer.”

 

   

Brendan Ingle, MBE (born June 19, 1940 in Dublin, Ireland) is a former professional boxer and a boxing manager and trainer. Brendan Ingle has been training boxers out of the St Thomas' Gym since the '60s and is still going strong. The trainer is responsible for the success of Herol "Bomber" Graham, Prince Naseem Hamed, Johnny Nelson and Junior Witter to name a few.

Mr Ingle was awarded an MBE in 1998 for his services and contributions to British boxing and work with young people in the Sheffield area.

  

Howard Melton Webb was born 14 July 1972. He is an English football referee who operates in the Premier League, he has been a FIFA-listed referee since 2005 and is currently in South Africa refereeing at the World Cup 2010.

About keeping fit he says, "Certainly, as I have got older, I have worked at looking after myself, I didn't want to look like an old fart. I want to look as if I still belong on a field of athletes, I want to show that I take this job seriously."
