Volunteers of the Year 2010

Four SAFE@LAST volunteers have been awarded the SAFE@LAST Volunteer of the Year Award for 2010.

Rosie Dean, Jo Gibbs, Jacqui Hawkins and Louise Stacy were given the award in recognition of their hard work with the pop up charity shop, Charity Chicks which has raised over £27,000 since September 2009.

On being surprised with the award at a cheese and wine evening held to thank all those who supported Charity Chicks Louise said “Thank you for the lovely award.  It is a real privilege to be part of such an inspirational organisation with people who are so caring”

On presenting the award Operations Director Mark Smith said SAFE@LAST has over 200 volunteers who contribute to the work we do with young runaways and it’s a very difficult task each year to single out one volunteer to recognise with this award.  The Charity Chicks team have worked incredibly hard to achieve such success not only in terms of fundraising but also the awareness of SAFE@LAST raised through the pop up shops.

The Trustees of SAFE@LAST have designated the funds raised through Charity Chicks to fund the Education and Prevention Programme in Rotherham for another year after grant funding runs out for this work at the end of March 2011.
